hard bop can be identified by its simple call and response melodic lines and midtempo meters. the purpose of the jazz subgenre is to uplift the listener.
a famous band that used the hard bop style of jazz in their music was The Jazztet. The Jazztet was a jazz sextet and consisted of a saxophone, a tenor sax, a trombone and a piano-bass-drums rhythm section. the group lasted until 1962.
