hard bop is a form of jazz music that was developed in the mid-1950s to describe jazz music that was influenced by rhythm and blues, gospel music and blues.

a famous band that used the hard bop style of jazz in their music was The Jazztet. The Jazztet was a jazz sextet and consisted of a saxophone, a tenor sax, a trombone and a piano-bass-drums rhythm section. the group lasted until 1962.
