the history
of glam rock
glam rock began in the early 1970s with Marc Bolan, who's 1960s acoustic duo adopted a more electronic style and was renamed to T-rex. they introduced the idea of glam rock when Marc Bolan preformed their song "hot love" wearing glitter under his eyes and a tight satin top.

the style was heavily influenced from the 1960s rock genres such as flower pop and bubblegum pop with common features such as catchy melodies and simple writing, but added new ideas, such as male artists wearing makeup and glitter.

in 1972 English singer & actor David Bowie created a glam rock persona, Ziggy Stardust, and released his album "the rise and falls of ziggy stardust" which became incredibly popular and stayed on the charts for 2 years.
